Private server safety: Community-run realms are not official Blizzard services. Their client software may be modified or distributed by third parties. Verify the source, terms and security of any file before downloading or running it.

Install the Official Client

Follow the current steps in the Battle.net app and Blizzard support documentation.

1. Install Battle.net

Download the desktop app from Blizzard's official website and sign in to your Battle.net account.

2. Choose a Game Version

Open World of Warcraft in the app and select the available version or game mode you intend to install.

3. Install and Update

Select Install and allow the app to download the files. The required storage and system requirements depend on the version.

Before You Install a Community Client

Check the Source

Use the realm operator's current documentation, review the exact file and publisher, and scan downloads with your security software.

Protect Your Accounts

Do not enter your Blizzard credentials into an unrelated launcher. Use a unique password for third-party services and never share recovery codes.

Confirm Compatibility

Check the client build, operating-system support and update method. Community clients may not work with the official Battle.net installation.

Read the Rules

Review terms, privacy details and support contacts before creating an account or installing software.
