1. Getting Started

Choose a game version and realm first. Read its rules, progression rate, supported client and account requirements before you create a character. Race bonuses are usually a smaller consideration than the class and play style you enjoy.

Choose a role that suits you

Plan your leveling route

Follow the main quest line for your chosen version and use optional quests or dungeons when they fit your level. A route written for another expansion or custom realm may not match your quests or experience rates.

2. Equipment Progression

Compare item level, primary stats and useful effects, but check the version-specific gearing rules. A measured upgrade path helps avoid spending scarce currency or materials on an item you will replace immediately.

  1. Complete suitable quests and introductory content.
  2. Use normal dungeons to learn encounters and collect early upgrades.
  3. Move to heroic or higher-difficulty content when your group is ready.
  4. Review raid and PvP rewards for the version you are playing.
  5. Keep consumables, repair costs and profession materials in mind.

3. Dungeons and Raids

A typical five-player group has one tank, one healer and three damage dealers, though custom realms may change group sizes or mechanics. Learn boss abilities, interrupt dangerous casts and agree on loot rules before the run.

Build confidence before raising difficulty

Start with content that lets the group learn routes and mechanics. Higher difficulty usually requires stronger coordination, but exact timers, affixes, rewards and raid sizes depend on the realm and patch.

4. PvP and Social Play

Battlefields, arenas and open-world PvP offer different team sizes and objectives. Read the queue rules and rating requirements for your game version. For a more relaxed pace, explore professions, collections, achievements and guild activities.

5. Safety Checklist

Version note: This guide is general information. Private realms can change game systems, rewards and progression without following official patch notes.
